Tips to Calm Those Wedding Day Nerves
Author: Jane Martin
As your wedding draws nearer and nearer, you may start to feel as though you are never going to get everything
done! A wedding is a joyous affair, but it is also worth remembering that it can be a very stressful one as well.
There are many tasks that need to get done and many events that need to get orchestrated, and sometimes it can feel
as though you are running a losing race! Take a moment to breathe and then look at these tips to get you calm and
centered.
Look for the right tools that will help you relax. Some people can relax by sitting still and reading a book,
while others need the discipline and form of something like meditation or yoga. Take a class on yoga or a similarly
relaxing activity early on and you will be able to use it throughout your wedding.
Make some lists. When things start getting tough, remember that there is always going to be a finite number of
things that need to get handled. One way to remind yourself of this is with lists. Lists will help you keep things
organized and straight, and there is a very satisfying feeling that comes with crossing things off of a list.
Whether you make one master list or several small lists about different things, you will find that they can keep
you relaxed.
Confirm with all of the different services the week before the wedding. From the cake to the catering to the
venue to the limousine, call and make sure that everyone knows where they are supposed to be and when they are
supposed to be there. Not only will this make sure that nothing has become lost in the shuffle, you can also
reassure yourself that everyone is going to act like professionals. Doing this can really help you calm your nerves
about someone not showing up at the last minute.
Take some time and check in with the members of your wedding party. Make sure that everyone knows what they need
to do and where they need to be. In some cases, you will need to remind people of what is going on, but for the
most part, asking them is simply going to make you feel better. Take some time and connect with all the people in
the wedding.
Remember that as the bride or the groom, you are allowed to delegate some responsibilities out. Enlist the help
of the wedding party and your other friends and relatives. This can make a huge difference when you are thinking
about the wedding date drawing closer and closer. Find reliable people who are willing to help you and let them
take up some of the responsibilities. It is going to be a busy day and there is going to be plenty for everyone to
do.
When you are thinking about your wedding and all you can think about is getting frustrated or nervous, take a
moment to learn more about what your options are and how you can calm down. Chances are great that it is going to
go much more smoothly than you think.
