Bridal Shower Themes And Ideas
Author: Lise Rina
A bridal shower is held for the bride-to-be a month or two before her wedding. The bride is honored and showered
with gifts that will be useful to her in her married life. Bridesmaids are usually responsible for organizing and
running these events, which are traditionally all-female but can include men and women. Groups can range from a few
close friends to over a hundred friends and relatives. These parties are most commonly held by those living in the
United States, Canada and Australia. They usually feature bridal shower themes.
Themes can bring life to the party, making it fun and interesting. A good theme will reflect the needs and
interests of the bride, sometimes with different themes for gifts and party activities. For example, the gift them
might be Kitchen goods, while the party theme is a Hawaiian Luau.
Kitchen party
For those couples moving into a new house for the first time, kitchen themed showers can be an fantastic way for
their friends to help them get set up. Groceries, spices, kitchen utensils and appliances, and gift cards are
useful gifts for stocking their new kitchen. Samples of similar-looking kitchen ingredients, such as different
types of flours and powders, can be put into clear, unmarked containers as a set-up for a fun game. Guests have to
try and identify all the different substances, and the person who can name the most wins a small prize. Another
game is 'Apron Memory.' An apron is decorated with different kitchen utensils, and the bride wears it around the
room for a minute. Then she hides the apron and guests have to see how many items they can remember from it.
The Pajama party
Grab your favorite jamies and prepare for a girl's night in. Score manicures, pedicures, massages and facials
from all your friends. Ask your guests for prezzies like bathroom accessories and cosmetics, maybe some sexy
nightwear to replace your old pj's.
The Makeover shower
Everybody, grab out your makeup supplies and help paint the bride's face! Take plenty of pictures, because you
are going to get some funny results while you test out different colors to wear on the wedding day. For the best
advice, you might like to bring in an Avon consultant to give some expert tips.
Alphabet Theme
With 26 or more guests you can use an alphabet theme. Give each guest a letter of the alphabet, and have them
bring a gift that starts with their letter. You can make up a number of games using the alphabet, like asking
guests to name an attribute of married life that starts with the letter you have given them. Letters like Z and Q
are bound to come up with some interesting results!
Best memories
This is a really sweet one. Guests each bring a memento or gift that reminds them of a special memory shared
with the bride-to-be. Another great idea is to ask all your guests ahead of time to make a scrapbook page of
treasured memories that can be assembled and presented at the bridal shower. It is an excellent way to get guests
talking.
